A FIRST – SENIOR PRISON GOVERNOR JOINS EX-OFFENDERS IN NEW REHABILITATION INITIATIVE

17th May 2016

Prosper 4 Group (“Prosper”) is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Tullett, ex-Governing Governor of HMP Brixton, as an Associate of Prosper. This is a first in the modern justice sector – a past Prison Governor joining a business established by reformed prisoners, and enhancing and developing the way that services and advice are delivered to reduce reoffending.

Prosper is a group of social enterprises focusing on employment for those in the justice system, especially in industry workshops, employment for prisoners after release, and creating self-employment opportunities for ex-offenders. Prosper was founded in 2014 by Michael Corrigan, an ex-offender, and Andrew Dixon, a philanthropic investor, to provide a meaningful alternative to existing providers of services for prisoners and ex-offenders.

Ed Tullett said: “I met Michael inside Brixton Prison and we worked together while I was Governor to put programmes in place to help prisoners get work both inside and outside the prison. Joining Prosper’s team now will give me the chance to carry on this work, and bring meaningful reform to prisoner employment.”

Ed Tullett has recently retired from the Prison Service after over 35 years’ service, including 15 in operational management during which time he was the Governing Governor at four prisons, finishing his career at Brixton.  For a short while after leaving Brixton he worked for the London Community Rehabilitation Company leading work on the implementation of their “Through-The-Gate” services for prisoners. This is added experience which Ed now brings to Prosper.

Ed will work with Prosper’s team of directors, staff, and other Associates to establish sustainable programmes to find employment for ex-offenderswith the primary objective of securing appropriate employment for ex-offenders and facilitating their reintegration into society as law abiding and contributing citizens.  Prosper works with and for organisations such as Mitie, Google, Catch 22, and Thames Reach Charity.

Michael Corrigan, chief executive and founder of Prosper, said “Ed’s appointment is a significant milestone for us, and for all in the justice sector. We are thrilled that Ed will work with our teams and our ex-offender clients to change things for the better. His extensive experience and real-life knowledge of prisons will help us all.”
